It's difficult to go anywhere without seeing news or information about the current coronavirus outbreak. We've put together this short guide for support workers, family and service users with information on how to stay safe and what to do if you're feeling unwell. If you want to do any further reading, there are links to the full resources at the bottom of the page.
The symptoms of coronavirus are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
The symptoms of coronavirus are:
A high temperature
Shortness of breath
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.
The best thing that can be done to help reduce the spread of the virus is to regularly wash your hands with warm and soapy water and to avoid touching your face and eyes.
What to do if you feel unwell:
If you are worried that you have any symptoms, remember that you should avoid going to a GP or hospital, this can increase the spread of the virus. If you are a service user and you have a cold or any relevant symptoms (cough, high temperature, shortness of breath) the best advice is to stay at home and call NHS "111" on your phone.
If you are displaying symptoms, do not come in to Key Enterprises. The NHS 111 service will be able give you lots of advice about what to do next and will answer any questions you have.
If you have difficulty communicating or hearing you can dial 18001 111 on a textphone or use the BSL NHS 111 Interpreter website.
If you do not have any of the symptoms and you feel healthy then it is fine to carry on as usual attending Key Enterprises but to make sure that you are washing your hands much more frequently and following the advice of staff at the centre.
Preventing the spread of coronavirus
The below video is from the NHS and shows how and when to properly wash your hands:
It's also important if you cough or sneeze to catch it in a tissue and dispose of the tissue in a bin. After you sneeze or cough, always wash your hands!
The "Catch It, Bin It, Kill It" posters are on display all over Key Enterprises to remind staff and service users to help stop the spread of germs. We also have hand-sanitiser dispensers available around the building for staff and service users to use.
Key Enterprises are taking the coronavirus very seriously and have put in place several measures to ensure that the business can operate as normal. Please keep an eye on our social media channels and our website for any further updates on the situation.
You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone: 0191 2701138, we are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding coronavirus and Key Enterprises.
If you are not feeling well and have questions about symptoms then please call 111 instead.
