Adapting to the new-normal at Key Enterprises
It has been over a year since Key Enterprises was forced to close its doors for the first coronavirus lockdown in the UK.
A lot has changed since then, but one thing that hasn’t is the commitment to provide support for our service users who face many additional challenges during the pandemic. Staff members at Key Enterprises have made thousands of support phone and video calls to service users during the times that K|E has had to close.
Over the summer, we ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to invest in 3 mobile tablets to help keep our service users connected and online at times when they would otherwise be isolated. This provided a vital piece of social interaction for our service users at a time when we had to be ‘socially’ distant.
As restrictions eased, we organised one on one bike rides to help promote staying physical and getting outdoors. This involved many trips to the famous Cramlington Spoon and exploring the beautiful sights surround North Tyneside, Northumberland and Newcastle!
We are continually adapting to make Key Enterprises a place where our service users can thrive, even with the additional challenges of a pandemic. It's brilliant to have service users back onsite again, even with masks, hygiene and social distancing measures in place it hasn't stopped us from providing the support, relationships and community that our service users need.
Finally, just a quick note to staff, service users and their support networks to say thank you for your patience, understanding and co-operation with us while we return to Key Enterprises and continue to adapt and evolve with this ever changing post-covid world. We wouldn't be able to do it without you so, thank you!
