Our newly developed Creative Arts Programme means there is always something exciting for our service users to get involved with! There is a variety of activities for service users to partake in, including our Theatre Group, Choir, Band, Music Therapy sessions, Art and Creative Writing Workshops.

Whether you have previous experience or want to try something new, everyone is welcome. We stage service-user led productions and concerts throughout the year, which is great opportunity for individuals to challenge themselves and share their progress with carers, friends and family.

Theatre Group

Our theatre group rehearse every Wednesday morning led by our Activities Coordinator, Sonia and our Assistant Manager, Catherine.

In the sessions, we explore different aspects of theatre through drama games, script work and improvisation.

The group are currently rehearsing for their next production of The Wizard of Oz, which will take place in December 2024 and always welcomes new members!

The Key Choir also rehearse on Wednesday mornings as part of the Theatre session.

We sing a multitude genres and songs spanning the decades. Whether you consider yourself a rocker, or if show tunes are more your thing, there is something for everyone.

We perform in a variety of settings throughout the year, and enjoy coming together to sing and perform.

Music Therapy

We are lucky enough to work with an incredible music therapist in partnership with music therapy charity, Nordoff & Robbins.

Service users are able to access weekly sessions every Friday onsite at Key, where they are encouraged to create connections and explore their own musicality.

Art Workshops

We run art workshops at various points through the week, usually on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning.

In the workshops, service users are supported to explore different artistic practice using a variety of media.

We also work in partnership with local arts outreach programmes, including the Explorers Project at the Baltic, and Helix Arts.

Our in-house band, 'The Keytones' have been together for many decades and are still going strong!

The band rehearse at Key every Friday morning and are led by our amazing volunteer, Tony.

They have an expansive back catalogue of music, but can often be heard playing the odd Status Quo cover. They are always on the lookout for new members!

Creative Writing

On Monday afternoons, our creative writing group get to work on their latest creations.

In the sessions, service users are encouraged to explore their feelings and express things they are not normally able to articulate.

They learn to think imaginatively and are supported to write their own stories and poems whilst connecting with others in a safe and positive environment.
