METALWORK

This is an industrial training area which is fully equipped to carry out a large range of wrought iron work.

Equipment in the department includes:

- MIG welding gear
- MMA welding gear
- Oxyacetylene cutting and welding gear
- TCT cut off saw
- Drill Press

Whilst receiving training in the use if equipment participants will learn:

- laydown bed of bead welds
- closed square butt weld (downhand, vertical up & horizontal-vertical)
- open square prep butt weld (downhand, vertical up & horizontal-vertical)
- plus many more techniques covering cutting and measuring

Items made in the department include:

- wrought iron gates, railings and furniture
